5. By forcing PERA to divest, the Legislature makes a political statement using only public employees. No other Colorado citizen is impacted. It is unfair and discriminatory to only make public employees pay the price of the Legislature’s action. (more)  Other legislative actions could involve all Colorado residents such as:
   • Contract for research and publish the names/products of companies that operate in Iran and Colorado (including subsidiaries and parent companies.)
   • Promote a boycott of these products/companies.
   • Deny any state or local government contract for companies that cannot certify that it or any parent/subsidiary company does not operate in Iran.
   • Pass a resolution encouraging PERA do divest, but not mandate it.
   • Limit exploration or expansion of business of these companies in Colorado.
   • Add an excise tax to the products of these companies.
